Our Story

Welcome to Debt or a Life! My name is Don, and I embarked on a transformative journey towards financial freedom alongside my wife, Leslie. It all started with a challenge from a dear friend and former pastor, who encouraged us to share our story as a beacon of hope for others trapped in the cycle of debt.

At the outset, we found ourselves drowning in over $100,000 of credit card debt, education loans, and various installment debts. Despite diligently making minimum payments, we realized that debt was consuming nearly half of our household income, leaving little room for financial stability or future planning.

The turning point came when we recognized the immense potential of redirecting those debt payments towards building a brighter future. With determination and strategic planning, we began our debt elimination journey, leveraging tactics like the debt snowball method and making significant lifestyle changes along the way.

Selling our beloved home was a bold move that provided the jump-start we needed to accelerate our progress. By downsizing and reducing our housing expenses, we redirected valuable resources towards debt repayment, inching closer to our goal with each passing month.

Despite encountering setbacks like unexpected expenses and temporary financial hardships, we persevered, never losing sight of our ultimate objective: to achieve debt-free living and secure a comfortable retirement.

Today, I invite you to join us on this journey towards financial empowerment. Through Debt or a Life, we aim to share practical insights, actionable strategies, and real-life experiences to inspire and guide others towards their own path to financial freedom.
